Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) is everyone’s responsibility and all staff are required to adhere to the Code of Conduct, that enshrines principles of PSEA, always (both during working hours and outside work hours). Familiarization with, and adherence to, the Code of Conduct is an essential requirement of all staff, in addition to related mandatory training. All staff must ensure that they understand and act in accordance with this clause.
Under the direct supervision of the Senior social worker, the Persons with Specific Needs (PwSN) case worker is responsible for providing individual case management services to PwSN at heightened risk. Through the case management process, the case worker will aim to respond to persons of concern’s (PoC) immediate needs, but also to strengthen their resilience and to support the adoption of positive coping mechanisms.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions
The Case Worker (CW) focuses on supporting PwSN at medium and high risk through Case Management (CM) services. The CW conducts comprehensive assessments through household visits and interviews to identify the needs of PoC, their protection concerns, but also their strengths and capacities. Based on the assessments’ findings, the CW develops with the PoC an action plan to address his needs and then follows on its implementation. As part of the action plan, the CW can conduct awareness sessions, provide PSS to the PoC, conduct referrals internally to other IOCC services or externally to other organizations with PWSN services, including request for Protection Cash Assistance according to the PoC’s needs.
- Play a key role in the identification of individual cases with specific needs and liaise with other parties to receive referrals.
- Conduct initial assessments through home visits, to identify the persons with specific needs/or extremely vulnerable persons who require health and protection individual case management and ensuring timely intervention on referrals.
- Develop with the PoC specific action plan, to respond to immediate needs, but also to strengthen PoC’s resilience and to support the adoption of positive coping mechanisms.
- Provide comprehensive case management to persons with specific needs with heightened risk levels, including home visits, counseling sessions with proper case planning and tracking, following the interagency SOPs.
- Maintain overall responsibility for supporting the beneficiaries through all the steps of case management (i.e. Health, Protection).
- Ensure proper documentation of assessments, action plan, follow up scheduling, referrals, case conference (when needed) and closure.
- Ensure full reporting on RAIS.
- Conduct psychosocial assessment of vulnerable cases, providing psychosocial support (PSS, PFA) including environmental, emotional, behavioral, and social factors as well as resources and strengths that impact the individual well-being, referring them to needed services accordingly.
- Coordinate with different institutions, services providers, and physicians as well as caregivers at the community level to help beneficiaries access needed resources and services.
- Ensure timely follow up -monitoring and review (weekly, monthly).
- Ensure data protection protocols and SOPs are respected.
- Participate in internal and external meetings and trainings including case management meetings, case conference meetings or any other meetings when required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):
- Language skills: Fluent in Arabic and good command of English (speaking, reading, writing)
- Work experience: 2 years, preferably with NGOs
- Knowledge of CM process, principles and standards
- Contextual awareness
- Highly empathic in dealing with beneficiaries
- Knowledge of archiving system and case management info management
- Computer skills: good command of Word and Excel
- Excellent knowledge of Protection principles and of PSEA
- Excellent communication skills, including active listening
- Teamwork
- Good organizational skills
Experience:
- At least 3 years work experience
- Previous experience in NGO, and humanitarian field is an advantage
- Previous experience in CMAM and IYCF program implementation is an advantage
Working Conditions:
To be based in the office with frequent visits to the field.
