- Respond to mobilization calls of suspected cholera outbreak by undergoing field trips and stool sampling.
- When an alert has been issued, the Team Supervisor will mobilize the Clinician and the health promoter to go to the field locality covered by the team within 6-8h from the alert.
- The Clinician will be responsible of clinically assessing the suspected index case, receiving a stool sample following infection prevention protocols and referring the case to a hospital/PHCC if needed.
- The Clinician and/or the health promoter will conduct contact tracing to members of the same household and to 20 neighbouring households to assess outbreak and cases with acute watery Diarrhea (AWD).
- The Clinician and/or health promoter will distribute Oral Rehydrating Solutions (ORS) to suspected cases as per the MOPH protocols.
- Ensure adequate referral of patients with severe dehydration to available services (PHCCs, hospitals, etc) after discussing with Field Medical Coordinator or Team Supervisor as needed.
- The Clinician and/or health promoter will collect water samples from outbreak areas as needed, in coordination.
- Maintain IPC protocols at all times during field activities and use personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately.
- Refer cases of gender-based violence (GBV) and protection to available services.
- In coordination with the Team Supervisor, follow up on the investigated cases after initial assessment and complete documentation.
- Document all households’ visits on RI’s databases and other national databases if required.
- Closely coordinate with the Team Supervisors and other team members to set a monthly on-call schedule for Rapid Response Teams (RRTs) and back-up team and ensure availability during on-call shifts to receive mobilization calls and go on field visits as needed.
- Maintain responsiveness during working days and on-call shifts by reaching field location within 6-8h of any mobilization call.
- Closely coordinate with the health promoter and the Team Supervisor within the RRT and ensure flexibility to cover for other RRTs in other localities on need-basis.
- Ensure reporting on all suspected Cholera cases investigated by RI’s teams and submit a clear report to the Team Supervisor and the Public Health Officer after every field visit.
- Report cases of social tension on the field or incidents of discrimination or violence towards suspected cases, to ensure Social Stability in areas of outbreak.
- Support the Team Supervisor with updates on stock management and needs of ORS, PPE and sampling kits to ensure available quantities with the field team at all times.
- Complete appropriate Means of Verification (MOV) for all field activities including distribution of ORS, stool sampling and referrals, submit MOVs to MEAL department.
