Women’s Platform to Lead is implementing a project entitled :” Solidarity to combat VAWG” under the «Strengthening the role of feminist CSOs working in the implementing of the Women, Peace and Security Agenda (WPSA)» program which aims at contributing to the effective implementation of the WPSA in Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan and Palestine through empowering feminist civil society organisations (CSOs) and women-led Community Based Organizations (CBOs) to play a leading role in implementing the WPSA, combating Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) comprehensively and enhancing women’s participation at local, national and regional levels.
The program is implemented by a consortium of five organisations in the four countries: EuroMed Feminist Initiative (EFI), Women Empowerment Organisation (WEO) in Iraq, Arab Women Organisation (AWO) in Jordan, Association Najdeh (AN) in Lebanon and Palestinian Working Women Society in Development (PWWSD) in Palestine. All are members of EFI, a policy platform that provides expertise in the field of gender equality and women’s rights as inseparable from democracy building and citizenship, and advocates for political solutions to all conflicts, and for the right of peoples to self-determination.
This program is funded by the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) which implements France’s policy on international development and solidarity. Through its financing of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and the public sector, as well as its research and publications, AFD supports and accelerates transitions towards a fairer, more resilient world. It also provides training in sustainable development (at AFD Campus) and other awareness-raising activities in France.
WPL is seeking to recruit a MEAL Officer in Baalbeck-Hermel area to work on “Solidarity to combat VAWG” project.
Job Description:
- Field monitoring: Conducting regular field visits to the sites of implementation and record findings to monitor improvement and give recommendations on corrective measures when needed
- Implementing MEAL plans: This involves implementing plans for monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on the effectiveness of programs and projects, including identifying appropriate indicators and data sources.
- Collecting and analyzing data: MEAL officers are responsible for collecting and analyzing data on the impact and effectiveness of programs and projects, using tools such as surveys, focus groups, and case studies.
- Providing technical support: provide expertise and guidance to project staff on issues related to monitoring, evaluation, and accountability, such as data collection and analysis, impact assessment, and reporting.
- Providing reports and updates: preparing and presenting reports and updates on the progress and impact of programs and projects to stakeholders, including team members, management, and Donor.
- Improving organizational relevance and achievement of results, effectiveness and efficiency of resource utilization for enhancement of positive impacts on beneficiaries.
- Program troubleshooting: They help the program staff identify and remedy implementation problems early on and sustain effective program implementation over time
- Documentation: Fully documenting activities and accomplishments in the form of reports, publications, and presentations
- Policy follow-up: Ensure that all staff are following WPL policies and are not conducting any breaches. This is done through regular visits, complaints mechanisms, direct beneficiaries’ feedback, and any other means necessary
- Gender equality: ensure that gender equality is taken into account in all of the activities including equal and fair treatment, equal opportunities, respect of female quota during outreach, in addition to providing gender-based analysis of the results of the project.
Background and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree Social Science, English Literature or any other related field
3 years of professional experience as a minimum, especially at NGOs/INGOs
Ability to do research and data collection
Good understanding of humanitarian principles and humanitarian processes
Strong communication skills
Fluency in Arabic and English
Demonstrated writing skills and ability to do research/collect data
Demonstrated communication skills and ability to liaise with affected communities
Demonstrated awareness and sensitivity to gender and diversity; experience and ability to live and work in diverse cultural contexts in a culturally appropriate manner; and capacity to make accurate self-assessment particularly in high stress and high security contexts.
Computer Skills:
Knowledge and facility with standard office computer systems and software
