Background

WHO has developed an e-mental health intervention for use in low and middle income countries. The intervention called ‘Step-by-Step’ (SbS) comprises of a self-help smartphone applications and weekly calls from a trained helper who motivates and supports use. It has been evaluated in randomized controlled trials (RCT) in Lebanon. Following positive results from research, WHO will support implementation of the SbS intervention as a nationwide service by the National Mental Health Programme (NMHP) of the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) in Lebanon. The intervention is expected to help reduce the mental health consequences of COVID-19 and is being delivered as part of COVID-19 response.  A clinical supervisor is required to provide supervision and support to the e-helper team (non-specialists who offer guidance to participants in use of the intervention).

 Duties and Responsibilities

• Be present at the office for 2 days a week and conduct weekly group supervision for 2 hours
• Provide clinical supervision as per the support and supervision protocol
• Provide psychological support to the e-helpers to help them manage any distress related to their functions
• Manage serious clinical cases and ensure that the management is in line with the ethics protocol
• Conduct supervision and fidelity checks for phone calls, message support and case notes
• Deliver the clinical part of the training to e-helpers and provide on the job coaching
• Be part of the steering committee and the executive board committee of the project
• Conduct weekly meeting and based on need meeting with the e-helpers for support and with the project coordinator
• Report on the performance of the team to the project coordinator

Skills/Qualifications

• A licensed clinical mental health professional
• CBT experienced or any other manualized/protocolled approach that goes along with the intervention techniques
• Experienced in supervising non-mental health professionals in a psychological intervention is a plus
• Available for 2 working days per week (total of 16 hours per week)
• Flexible on demand over the phone for emergencies
• Communication and team working skills
• Use a logical approach to problem solving/analytical skills
• Manage time effectively
