General Purpose of the position
The School Principal is responsible for managing the policies, regulations, and procedures to ensure that all students are supervised in a safe environment that meets the approved curricula and mission of the school.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. School Management
- Ensure that students and teachers attend scheduled periods throughout the school day.
- Protect confidentiality of records and information gained as part of exercising professional duties.
- Provide quarterly students grade and behavior reports to parents.
- Research and collect data regarding the needs of students.
- Assume responsibility for the health, safety, and welfare of students, employees and visitors.
2. Educational Serve as a role model for students
- Establish and promote high standards and expectations for all students and staff for academic performance and responsibility for behavior.
- Supervise effective and clear procedures for the operation and functioning of the school consistent with the mission, values and goals of the school including instructional programs, extracurricular activities and discipline systems to ensure a safe and orderly climate.
- Encourage the educational staff the use of a variety of instructional strategies and materials consistent with research on learning and child growth and development.
- Ensure a safe, orderly environment that encourages students to take responsibility for behavior and creates high morale among staff and students.
3. School Ambiance and Staff
- Keep the staff informed and seek ideas for the improvement of the school.
- Conduct meetings, as necessary, for the proper functioning of the school: weekly meetings with teachers, parents meetings.
- Provide and supervise a safe recreation and play period for the students.
- Establish professional and respectful relations with students and with staff.
4. Parents
- Communicate regularly with parents, including organization of parents meetings, so as to create a cooperative relationship to support the student in the school.
5. Country Office
- Attend required meetings.
6. Relations with Project Office
- Ensure that student records are complete and up to date.
- Cooperate with the Education Officer.
- Notify immediately the Education Officer and the Project Director in case of child abuse, child neglect, and child severe medical or social conditions.
- Present on time all records and reports as requested by the direction. Write, send, and file all required reports (weekly report, monthly report, cash flow, parents meetings, teachers meetings, teachers absence).
- Establish and maintain an effective inventory system for all school supplies, materials and equipment.
- Provide a weekly request form for procurement in order to supply the school with needed materials.
7. JRS Visibility
- Maintain visibility and unity of JRS at school level with students, teachers, parents and team as well.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 professional years of experience in a field directly related to Education Childhood.
- Background in Child protection and communities of Refugees or Displaced people is an asset.
- Knowledge of English and Arabic both written and spoken is required.
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
- Ability to write and edit reports under deadlines.
- Ability to work in multicultural environment.
- Ability to perform under pressure.
- Ability to work independently and respecting deadlines.
- Motivated, hard working, and very reliable.
- Previous work experience in Lebanon or the region is preferred.
