Background and Job Summary

SHiFT is a social innovation hub leading the transformation of post-conflict and/or marginalized zones towards peaceful and prosperous communities. SHADDA Media Lab, established at Shift Social Innovation Hub, is a media platform and shared working space for media producers in Tripoli, with the aim of promoting peace and positivity through informative, entertaining, and realistic content.

The Photographer at SHiFT Social Innovation Hub will play a crucial role in capturing the essence and impact of our organization’s initiatives, projects, and events. The visually compelling photographs will help showcase our efforts, engage stakeholders, and tell the story of positive transformation in the communities we serve. This role calls for a skilled and creative photographer who is passionate about documenting social change and making a tangible difference through their work.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

• Photography: Capture high-quality, meaningful, and captivating photographs that highlight the activities, achievements, and impact of SHiFT’s projects, events, and community interactions.
• Videography and video editing: Able to capture creative shots and make video editing for social media (reel and documentary).
• Storytelling: Collaborate with our communications team to ensure that your photographs and videographs effectively communicate SHiFT’s mission, values, and success stories to diverse audiences.
• Documentation: Maintain a comprehensive and organized collection of photographs that can be readily accessed for various purposes, such as reports, presentations, and promotional materials.
• Adaptation: The photographer should be flexible in adapting the photographic style to suit the context and message of different projects, ensuring visual consistency with the organization’s brand guidelines.
• Event Coverage: Attend and document SHiFT’s events, workshops, training sessions, and community gatherings, capturing candid moments and key highlights.
• Collaboration: Work closely with fellow team members to understand project goals and photography needs, while also contributing the creative insights to enhance the visual storytelling process.
• Equipment Maintenance: Take responsibility for the care and maintenance of photography equipment, ensuring its proper functioning and longevity.

Qualifications and Skills

• Photographic  and videographic Expertise: Demonstrated proficiency in photography and videography with a strong portfolio showcasing a variety of styles and subjects.
• Video Editing Expertise.
• Visual Storytelling: Ability to capture compelling narratives through images, effectively conveying emotions and messages.
• Technical Proficiency: Profound knowledge of photography equipment, lighting techniques, and post-processing software to deliver high-quality images.
• Adaptability: Capacity to adapt photographic style based on the project’s context and requirements.
• Creativity: Innovative approach to photography that adds a unique perspective to SHiFT’s visual representation.
• Collaborative Spirit: Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
• Passion for Social Change: Alignment with SHiFT’s mission and a genuine interest in contributing to the positive transformation of communities.
• Time Management: Efficiently manage photo shoots, editing, and deliverables within set deadlines.
• Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic.

Conditions

• Full-Time working hours: 5 days per week, 8 hours per day, from 9:00 am till 5:00 pm.
• Willingness to travel abroad for meetings and conferences (where applicable).
