About the Role
We are seeking a talented Content Writer to join our dynamic Communications team. If you have exceptional writing abilities, a meticulous attention to detail, and a talent for storytelling, and passion for refugee youth in the Middle East, we encourage you to apply. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in creating captivating, informative, and authentic content. Collaborating closely with our production team, you will develop compelling written materials across various platforms, such as websites, blogs, social media, press releases, email newsletters, and video content. You will also collaborate closely with our Social Media Community Assistant, who will report directly to you. This is an exciting opportunity to utilize your skills and contribute to our organization’s impactful communication efforts.
Key Responsibilities
Journalistic
- Collaborate with subject matter experts and internal stakeholders to gather information and insights for content development.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to continually improve content quality and effectiveness.
- Conduct thorough research on industry-related topics to ensure accurate and up-to-date information in content creation.
Writing
- Develop original and creative ideas for blog posts, articles, website content, social media updates, press releases, email newsletters, subtitles, and video content.
- Craft compelling press releases in both English and Arabic to communicate news, announcements, and updates to external media outlets, write engaging and informative email newsletters in both English and Arabic to keep our audience informed and engaged.
- Create attention-grabbing subtitles, and translations for video content in both English and Arabic to enhance viewer experience and accessibility.
- Edit and proofread content in both English and Arabic for grammar, spelling, punctuation, clarity, and consistency.
- Ensure all content adheres to brand guidelines, tone of voice, and style guidelines.
- Use storytelling techniques to create compelling narratives that resonate with our target audience.
- Optimize content for search engines (SEO) to drive organic traffic and improve search engine rankings.
Coordination
- Work with the Creative Team (Production Coordinator) to package stories for publishing with the proper production material.
- Oversee the work of the Social Media Community Assistant, ensuring alignment with content creation guidelines, monitoring their deliverables, and co-creating social media activation strategies.
- Collaborate with the Marketing Operations Coordinator to ensure consistent messaging and brand voice across all channels.
- Work closely with the Production Coordinator and consultant teams to develop scripts and storylines for video content, aligning them with organizational goals and brand messaging.Collaborate with marketing, design, and SEO, to optimize content for maximum impact.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute creative ideas to enhance content strategies.
Eligibility
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proficiency in content creation and reporting in both English and Arabic, including the ability to translate from one language to the other.
- Access to a computer or laptop with high-speed internet.
- Strong computer skills and experience navigating various cloud-based collaboration platforms, including Google Drive, Slack, ClickUp and Zoom.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with other remotely-based team members while also being self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Demonstrates respect for diverse identities, including strong multicultural awareness and gender-sensitive behavior as a member of a global team.
Required Skills and Experience
1. Core Qualifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Arabic.
- Excellent storytelling abilities and expertise in non-profit communications.
- Passion for social impact and familiarity with the socio-cultural context of Syrian youth in Syria, Lebanon, and other host countries within the Middle East region.
- Knowledge of the Humanitarian field and non-profit communications.
- Highly creative and ability to think outside the box.
2. Technical Skills
- Proficiency in content creation for various platforms, including websites, blogs, social media, press releases, email newsletters, and video scripts.
- Knowledge of SEO principles and ability to optimize content for search engines.
- Experience in using analytics tools to measure content performance and make data-driven improvements.
- Proficiency in editing and proofreading for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and consistency.
3. Experience & Education
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
- Minimum five years of experience in Journalism, Communications, or Content Creation work experience, with a strong portfolio of published writing samples.
- Creativity and the ability to generate innovative ideas.
