Position Description
The Assistant Adviser will be part of the team responsible for assisting students and professionals residing in Lebanon who are interested in studying at U.S. colleges and universities. The Assistant Adviser will provide support to the Educational and Scholarships Manager and the EducationUSA Adviser in the following:
• Outreach, promotion activities, application processing, application verification, scheduling student exams, pre-departure orientation, helping with visa applications, travel arrangements, interview preparation, interview process, scheduling of trainings, filing, student follow-up, monthly and quarterly reports
• Ensuring that programs and events are announced promptly on bulletin boards and social media platforms
• Engaging student alumni by developing and implementing effective alumni programs and activities; communicating with alumni in coordination with supervisors; and updating alumni database and systems
• Planning, promoting, and conducting activities designed to promote U.S. study
• Coordinating with students and parents, as needed
• Maintaining contact with school and university representatives in Lebanon
• Implementing the annual work plan developed by the Adviser to achieve the EducationUSA grant targets and activities
• Drafting required weekly, monthly, or other requested reports, analyzing monthly statistical data, and preparing associated reports
• Performing administrative support tasks, including paperwork, data-entry, and filing
• Supporting other Amideast departments and programs when needed
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Psychology, Marketing or related field
• 2 years of experience in an administrative role, preferably for an education-related program
• Strong preference for previous experience with U.S. higher education
• Excellent organizational, communication, time management, and leadership skills
• High attention to details and the ability to multitask
• Advanced knowledge of and proficiency in use of social media tools (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube.)
• Ability to take initiative and prioritize responsibilities
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the Internet
• Fluency in English and Arabic is a must
• Willingness to work on evenings or weekends, as needed, for activities, events, or to meet department deadlines
• Lebanese citizenship
• Available to start work immediately
