Position’s mission:

Under the supervision of the Deputy Country Manager and in close collaboration with the Regional Technical Unit” RTU”, the MHPSS Officer supervises the implementation of the projects’ MHPSS activities for the emergency in the South of Lebanon

Reports to: Deputy Country Manager

Interacts with:

-Internal: Country Manager, Operations Team, project team, Regional MHPSS Specialist MEAL staff, support services team.

-External: project partners, the authorities in the project area of implementation, other stakeholders including local organizations and INGOs in the area of implementation.

Area of intervention:

• Office in Beirut
• Area of intervention: South of Lebanon

Missions / Responsibilities

Responsibility 1: Contribute to the development of tools for the project implementation and to the capacity building of the project team

• Participates to the selection and contextualization of the modalities of intervention in compliance with HI guidelines
• Contribute to the development and/or adaptation of methodologies and to the development of high complexity technical tools, including full training packages when relevant
• Develop or adapt low/medium complexity technical tools
• Organize and/or participate to the tools testing whenever appropriate and adjust them according to the results of the test
• Provide ad-hoc support to the team during tools use including field coaching
• Contribute to assessing HI project team to define suitable training plan and training package

Responsibility 2: Support the implementation of project activities.

• Provides technical support including training, coaching and follow up to the partner’s MHPSS team daily work during the implementation of the following MHPSS interventions:
• Problem Management Plus (PM+) for individual and group interventions
• Self Help Plus (SH+) for group interventions
• PFA (psychological First Aid)
• Community based/ structured MHPSS (support group sessions
• Individual Counseling Sessions
• Directly carry out the following activities:
• Team weekly planning
• Coordination of activities with other pillars of the project (i.e. Rehabilitation activities and referrals)
• Regular technical supervision of MHPSS teams in both individual and group modality
• Capacity building to the project volunteers to conduct community informal informative group sessions

Responsibility 3: Contribute to project’s monitoring, lessons learning and reporting 

• Contribute to the development of low/medium complexity data collection tools in collaboration with the technical specialist, technical officers and MEAL.
• Collect data in relation with core tasks and contribute to the measurement of the progress made.
• Support the Project Manager in analysing the data collected and in identifying necessary adjustments in the project implementation framework to improve the quality and impact of the intervention
• Contribute to the identification of good practices under the project
• Develop case studies and success stories to illustrate changes induced by the project and for communication use
• Contribute to planning and produce activity reports
• Contribute to the production of the donor report,
• Contribute to the preparation and implementation of project quarterly review
• Participate to the organization of technical reviews and technical missions
• Contribute to the development of lessons learning exercise, data collection and analysis and the production of dissemination document
• Facilitate the field implementation of project’s evaluations
• Train the partner teams to use HI beneficiary forms including, MHPSS screening tools, psychosocial assessment forms, follow-ups, discharge forms and wellbeing scales.

This job description is flexible and the MHPSS Officer may have additional objectives set by the Project manager to ensure the smooth running of the project

Education:

• Essential: Bachelor in Psychology and MA in Clinical Psychology
• Preferable: Other certificates demonstrating continuous professional development

Experience:

• Essential: Minimum 3 years’ experience the field of expertise
• Essential: Experience in working with vulnerable group including Persons with Disabilities
• Essential: Experience in providing technical advice and coaching to teams
• Desirable: Experience working with non-governmental organizations in emergency or/ and development context

Skills:

• Essential: Computer skills Microsoft Officer including Excel, Word, PPT, Outlook…)
• Essential: Language: Fluent in Arabic and English
• Desirable: Experience to translate written technical documents from English into Arabic

Others:

• Trained on and able to provide supervision on evidence-based psychotherapies and on mental health approaches in emergencies (IASC guidelines, Psychological First Aid, MHGAP, crisis management protocols, users centered approach…)
• Good writing and reporting skills

Basic salary ranges for the position: MHPSS  Officer is going to be paid according to the experience and to HI salary Grid.

Basic Salary range between 1700 – 1850 USD
