EESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Provide support and counselling to breastfeeding mothers referred by the CHWs in the field or identified at PHC level;
- Assist and give one-on-one counseling and awareness sessions related to optimal Infant and young child feeding practices at field level and at the Primary health care centers;
- Conduct regular follow-up visits to mothers to ensure exclusive breastfeeding;
- Provide training on IYCF to staff at PHCs, program staff and CHWs as needed;
- Organize and participate in community events and workshops to promote breastfeeding awareness and education.
- Collaborate with local healthcare providers and community organizations to create breastfeeding-friendly environments.
- Record and keep collected information on numbers of women seen per day and produce daily reports using data entry formats in tablets generated for standard reporting;
- Report daily and weekly to the Nutrition Coordinator on all conducted activities and field visits.
- Ensure patient confidentiality and data protection.
- Support CHWs in the peer to peer sessions at community level.
- Identify mothers eligible for manual breast pump donation, and handle the distribution of manual breast pumps while ensuring accurate reporting and stock management.
- Identify mothers eligible for mother and baby kits donation, handle the kits distribution while ensuring accurate reporting and stock management.
- Screen children for early child development (ECD) and raise awareness based on identified needs related to ECD.
- Monitor the implementation of malnutrition screening and reporting at PHC level.
- Ensure continuous training and Professional self-development (keeping up to date with the latest advancements in nutrition and lactation support).
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as paediatricians, nurses, and nutritionists at the PHCs to provide comprehensive care for mothers and infants.
- Be culturally sensitive and aware of diverse cultural practices and beliefs related to breastfeeding.
- Offer emotional support to mothers experiencing difficulties with breastfeeding.
- Refer cases based on identified needs to internal and/or external services organisations.

- Review Staff Care issues with the direct reports on a regular basis; continuously monitor individual staff members’ capacity for self-care; and take adequate actions to ensure that staff well-being measures are in place and in alignment with the RI’s policies. Ensure an adequate attendance and participation in all Staff Care trainings as requested by the Organization and Country office.
