Job Title : Education Officer
Reports to : Head of Base/ Program Manager as Line Manager and CP and Education Activity Manager as Technical Referent.

Position Type : Full time
Job Purpose:
The Education Officer is responsible for the technical supervision and coordination of all project-linked education-related activities in North Lebanon Governorates including provision of all education and outreach activities in line with the project scope. S/he will ensure that training and capacity building needs of project’s beneficiaries are addressed in a timely manner and that the education activities meet quality standards in the sector as per MEHE and UNICEF guidelines. The Education Officer will carry out all tasks respecting key protection principles, including but not limited to: do no harm, non-discrimination, confidentiality, accountability and need-to-know principles.
Generic Duties:
- Organize training of teaching staff on inclusive education, child protection principles and emotional support and conduct regular visits to schools with tutoring and support activities for school and project staff who have benefited from the training activities
- Lead and support the community engagement activities, with the aim of increasing the demand for educational services, strengthening the perception of the value of formal education among communities and promote informal education opportunities
- Finalize operational work plans, set clear targets and activity plans per class and awareness sessions. These should be clearly communicated with the school’s administration and directors as well as to the teachers and parents.
- Liaise on a daily basis with communities, teachers, project staff and program manager to guarantee the smooth implementation of the program.
- Lead on the distribution of school kits and liaise closely with school directors. Identify the priority needs of stationary, didactic material, equipment and furniture of each school in close coordination with the Education & CP activity manager as well as the program manager, prepare the list of necessary materials and follow-up the procurement procedures in line with the donors’ requirements
- Organize, lead, implement and monitor the retention support program, in line with MEHE’s and UNICEF standards and requirements as well as with Education working group guidelines, referring to the SOPs in place for maintenance support, which includes holding recovery sessions within schools.
- Organize, lead and be involved in the selection of students, caregivers and teachers to carry out education activities in close coordination with the administration and school directors, based on the MEHE and UNICEF criteria established in the SOPs.
- Perform regular visits to schools while maintaining a proper observation and close monitoring of the activities implemented
- Conduct regular meetings with the trained teachers to discuss feedbacks and results achieved through each cycle of the retention program activities
- Manage the time sheet and attendance of the teachers as well as the students involved in the education activities
- Ensure smooth coordination of activities between other projects and sectors, in coordination with the Activity Manager and Base management, supporting the development of work plans consistent with the goals and objectives;
- Support the Education and CP Activity Manager in developing and/or updating education tools and training material in order to meet projects requirement
- Stay up to date with the guidelines of the Education Working group and the fast-changing context in Lebanon;
- Compile and submit weekly, monthly, and quarterly work plan and reports to the Program manager following donor’s requirement and including relevant insights on education related issues,
- Ensure that data is collected on a weekly and monthly basis in close collaboration with MEAL/Reporting officer.
- Ensure a strict adherence to the principles of Child Protection at all times, including respect for confidentiality and child cantered approach, acts in the best interests of the child.
- Establish and maintain collaborative relations with relevant partners and other project stakeholders working in the project areas;
- Proactively participate in relevant coordination meetings, as requested by the supervisor.

Education:
University Degree in University Degree in Education, Social Sciences, Social Work, Gender Studies, or related field.
Competencies: (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
Professional Competencies:
- Minimum 3 years relevant professional experience in the humanitarian education sector (of which at least 1 year in a supervisory role).
- Demonstrated strong technical knowledge in the education sector both in formal and informal education programming.
- Demonstrated strong knowledge on MEHE and UNICEF guidelines and procedures and criteria in place.
- Demonstrated in previous working experience with governmental schools.
- Excellent knowledge of local communities, prior experience working with local authorities and stakeholders in a plus.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills including communicating with vulnerable population groups.
- Ability to present information in understandable tables, charts and graphs.
- Excellent analysis and reporting skills.
- Computer literacy (Word, Excel, Power Point).
- Driving license issued since more than 2 years.
