The Finance Coordinator reports to the President and\or Director of programs of FDCD.
She or he will maintain regular office hours 9:00 – 16:00, Monday – Friday. She or he is expected to occasionally work evenings and/or weekends, especially during conferences or times when there are program deadlines.
The Finance Coordinator should have the ability to manage a variety of projects simultaneously under minimal supervision is required. The job requires a great deal of multi-tasking and the initiative to complete tasks and problem solving as appropriate.
Excellent oral and written communications skills are required daily to coordinate the needs of the office and assist with financial management of the program.
The position will require attention to detail, working with FDCD financial systems and policies.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensuring all payments are made on a timely basis and in accordance with existing procedures.
- Preparing monthly financial reports along with the supporting documentation that complies with FDCD’s policies and procedures and donors’ regulations.
- Responsible for regular budget follow up.
- Supporting the development of budgets for new grant proposals.
- Data entry and bookkeeping for all financial expenditures into FDCD accounting systems.
- Reviewing online bank statement daily and preparing the bank reconciliation for the different bank accounts monthly.
- Preparing the payment requests to be sent to the donor and ensuring proper follow up on these instalments.
- Generating full monthly/yearly financial reporting for the organization expenditures.
- Implementing efficient allocations for running projects.
- Responsible for consultants/staff contracts as well as suppliers’ payments.
- Responsible for daily petty cash payments, recording and replenishments.
- Responsible for filing all documentation as hard copies as well as keeping a scanned copy.
- Attend required meetings with donors’ focal point.
- Assisting the external auditors during their visits.
- Preparing the required tax forms and ensuring that FDCD pays all dues to the government on a timely basis.
- Performing other relevant duties as required.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Abilities:
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills (English and Arabic).
- General office, data entry, MS Office, database, internet, email, and multi-tasking skills.
- Ability to take initiative and responsibility and to follow through on tasks with little supervision.
- Flexibility/willingness to be interrupted and to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proven organizational and administrative skills.
- Proven ability to problem solving.
- Desirable:
- Experience working with financial software.

- Demonstrated interest and involvement in issues of peacebuilding and humanitarian assistance.
- Ability to work as part of a team, to focus under pressure, and to work on tight timelines in support of FDCD programs.
EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business, finance or related area
- Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience in financial/accounting field
- Good in written English, fluent in spoken English
- Experience and knowledge of effective financial and budgetary control and grant management
- Experience in working in a multi-cultural and/or international work environment
- Experience in preparing budgets and monitoring expenditure
