Job Purpose:

 

The Protection Officer, with the guidance of the Protection Project Manager, will implement protection program activities in North Lebanon, Akkar and T5.

Conduct community-based protection, awareness raising, and outreach activities, Psychological First Aid (PFA), awareness raising on Legal support, life-skill training, and PSS (Psychosocial Support) activities for Men, youth, children, and women-focused protection

Main duties & Responsibilities:

 

Conduct protection-related sessions and community outreach activities:

  • Outreach participants based on the project design
  • Implement PSS activities for children, youth (boys and girls), women and men;
  • Implement life skills training for youth (boys and girls), women and men;
  • Implement community-based protection/social projects;
  • Undertake case management when requested.
  • Ensure that referral pathways are functionally based on the norms of ethics and confidentiality.
  • Ensure that CRM (Complaints & Response Mechanism) is rolled out and functional
    reserved.
  • Conduct staff training and mentoring for protection assistants & volunteers as requested.
  • Actively participate in relevant training and/or capacity building session provided for your tasks and other relevant Concern initiatives that may apply to your tasks.

 

Programme Management:

  • Ensure that the programme is being implemented in accordance with the objectives agreed with the donor, Concern procedures, and best practice
  • Develop weekly, monthly and quarterly work plans and ensure that these are implemented
  • Develop weekly, monthly and quarterly work reports.
  • Ensure that accurate programme databases are maintained
  • Monitor performance of protection assistant(s) and conduct regular reviews (PDR, probation objectives, etc.)

Support to Project Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL)

 

  • Ensure inclusion of people with specific needs and minorities in the project activities
  • Ensure that CRM (Complaints & Response Mechanism) is rolled out and functional
  • Ensure daily record of attendance per activity and ensure that the data collected is accurate
  • Collect, store and maintain data in line with agreed procedures for data protection

 

Co-ordination and Reporting

  • To directly work with other caseworkers and service providers on the management of caseload and referrals
  • Provides weekly updates/reports on cases and outreach activities to the Supervisor;
  • Support the mapping of the available services and organizations operating in the area;
  • Ensures coordination and synergy with the main service providers in the area of intervention for prompt referral, follow-up, and information sharing;

  • Support the promotion of the standards outlined in the Programme Participant Protection Policy and Concern Code of Conduct to the team and the beneficiaries, and be committed to providing a safe working environment;

Person specification:

Essential

  • Education: Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Education or similar
  • Experience: Minimum of two years’ experience in social work or case management implementing protection programs in humanitarian or development settings. Additionally, up to one year of team management experience;
  • Languages: Good in English and fluent in Arabic
  • Computer: Good computer literacy, including good knowledge in Microsoft word and excel

Others:

  • Experience in working with different nationalities, particularly with minorities
  • Knowledge of protection principles in humanitarian aid
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong internal relationships and networks.
  • Ability to prioritize, be able to coordinate multiple tasks, and maintain attention to detail
  • The ability to work as a member of a team is essential
  • Flexible and willing to learn and/or adapt to a fluid situation
  • Flexibility in working overtime when needed and ability to handle pressure well

 

Desirable

 

  • Good organizational and planning skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong attention to detail
